The scope and nature of library resources is closely linked to the Institute’s scientific, research, training and educational profile.

The library serves the Institute’s staff, participants of training courses, the staff and students of Lodz universities and academia, and other groups interested in the European issues who can get access to its resources on the spot in the reading room.

Library resources include books in economics, EU law and culture and magazines, Working Papers and publications of international organisations (WTO, UN and others.). The library hosts also the deposit Centre of European Documentation (which receives all official publications of the EU). Its catalogue is available in alphabetical order and broken down by subject matter; there is an immediate indication given whether a particular item is available and what is the status of the items selected.

Books in the library were bought using own resources, resources of various assistance programmes as well as research and training projects implemented by the Institute. There are also many publications acquired within the framework of cooperation in research and teaching with European studies centres in Poland and abroad, and items donated by diplomatic representations.

The staff of the library are actively involved in all types of Institute’s activities and they help external users in their bibliographical searches and in the use of EU databases.
